Instead of translating that into english, could you post the exact
actual command line you're using (and the output from that)? That is
possibly where the problem lies; it sounds like you're getting the
results from jade when it doesn't find the stylesheet (or something
like that) and just emits the element content raw, doesn't format it
at all.  (Do you see any lines with E: or W: at the beginning?)
