* As for hyphenation, I suppose you're referring only to print output like
pdf, which brings us to the subject of formatting objects. To the best of my
knowledge you can specifically prevent hyphenation only on a given block
(like fo:block) by assigning the attribute hyphenate="false" to this
particular block instance. If you want a better granularity (word-level) you
will have to rely on the renderer (XEP or FOP, I don't know about JadeTex).
FOP & XEP use hyphenation "driver" files in which you can specify exception
to hyphenation rules. In your case, you would simply add your name to the
list of words that should not be hyphenated.
* When it come to print output, the quality is dependent on both the result
from the fo transformation (DocBook dependent) and the quality of the
renderer that formats thos formatting objects.
