* Required Version Atribute
It would be great if the new DocBook would have a required version
attribute on the root element. This in addition to the namespace will
make it easier for tools to find out what they are dealing with. (XSLT
has a version attribute, SVG versions higher than 1.0 require one, etc)
This might be useful but the attribute shouldn't be required as DocBook
instance can use many different elements as root element.
Yes, and my suggestion was to require the attribute on that root element
you mention.
For my suggestion, and for the spec, it shouldn't matter that the name
of the root elemnt can be different in different documents.
Whether the schema language used can enforce this (which is entirely
conceivable) or not is part of the implementation of the proposal, not
part of the proposal.
