Up to this point it all looks OK, I duplicated it here and got similar
results. But when I continue, the program runs as expected.

I think the thing to do is to send me a copy of your tm_basic
executable so I can try running it here and see what happens for myself.
Send it direct to me, don't include the list, either MIME or UUCP
encoding should work.

I'm beginning to suspect either a hardware or a toolchain problem.
