I don't know about safer, but its easier. Most of the RedHat
developers us linux as far as i know. There are no problems with line
ending and getting mount options correct etc. Also, its much faster to
build since all the tools run faster on linux.
The down side is that the GUI config tool is not so good under linux.
I never use it anyway, i always use the CLI interface.
