Wait on multiple objects

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to wait on multiple object, for example multiple
conditionnal variables. Something that would provide a functionality similar
to select.
The thing is i dont want to include all the io packages just to use select.
I've looked at how the pselect implementation is done, but i'm a bit puzzled
since it seems pselect wait on only one object.
Is there any (easy) way to do something that looks like wait queues ?
