Look in the database of ecos packages, there is a HAL variant for
40x. But there are no platforms which use the variant. This normally
means that some customer contracted RedHat to port eCos to a customer
specific board. The generic parts, namely the HAL variant, have been
released to the public, but the rest has not been released.

I don't see anything in the database for 440. There is support for:
mpc8260, MPC8xx, PPC60x MPC5xx, EC555 and a few others.

Take a look at http://sources.redhat.com/ecos/hardware.html#PowerPC
