Thanks again for a detailed analysis and spending the time to actually
try the tools yourself. It is nice having someone share the pain and
make an informed judgement :-)  IMHO the correct choice is obvious and
it just depends on how seriously the eCos maintainers consider non-Linux
hosted eCos contributors.

Your preview date explains why.  My most recent experiment with msysgit
was back in December (yes, this has been going on for so long...), so my
guess is somebody finally took notice and there is now a stable release.
I think though it is important to look msysgit's history.  It appears
hit-and-miss regarding stability and I would not like to depend on
something like that.  Still, you could always keep a known working
snapshot of msysgit aside for eCos contributors.
