What happen with the gdb port in DG/ux?
I had a look in gdb-4.18 and the relative
files are not in the source tree.
I think we've had a breakdown in communication here, sorry. You need
to mail the patch to the gdb-patches list - leaving it at an ftp site
is not an adequate substitute. (In this case, ftp.xfree86.org blows
me off repeatedly, which isn't very conducive to getting the bits!)
Secondly, there needs to be a copyright assignment for any large
changes - I don't know if it's needed, since I haven't seen them yet.
However this is not a big deal really. The big
thing is that for examble changes have been made
in the bfd library and this breaks the support of
gdb in DGUX (from 4.18 and on). By 4.19 version
a new port will be needed in order to support
DG/ux.
Unfortunately, that's the inevitable downside of not having changes
merged in. As I wander the net, I see there are many hacked versions
of GDB out there, in fact so many that I couldn't add them all in by
myself. As GDB changes, all those divergent versions either get
out-of-date or need more and more work to maintain in parallel, and
whichever the fate, GDB doesn't get improved. I need people to help
me in avoiding divergence, by sending the patches to gdb-patches -
that way they end up both in my mailbox and in sourceware's
mailinglist archive - and by putting the patches into a form that
meets the standards and rules that have been set down for GDB.
