My next Linuxthreads patch will make it arch-independent. That is how
gdb 4.17.0.14 works on ia32, alpha and ppc. I only needed to modify
less than 10 lines to make Linuxthreads work on alpha and ppc. It is
very trivial. My guess is Jim used an older gdb 4.17.0.xx for the
Linuxthreads support in gdb 4.19.
