gbd sends "$Hc-1#09" over the serial line to halt the remote system, when the remote system is not yet initialized, gdb keeps waiting for a reply it will never have, when insight is used, it simply hangs the UI.
Gdb should send "$Hc-1#09" n times untill the target replies.
