On Linux/x32, I got

[hjl@gnu-tools-1 tmp]$ cat x.c
void bar ();

int
main ()
{
  bar ();
  return 0;
}
[hjl@gnu-tools-1 tmp]$ cat y.c
void
bar ()
{
}
[hjl@gnu-tools-1 tmp]$ gcc -O -mx32 -g x.c y.c
[hjl@gnu-tools-1 tmp]$ gdb a.out
