Did, as part of the process of creating the library, all the files get
stripped of their debug info?
For instance, using a GDB build:
$ objdump -h gdb/libgdb.a
outputs a long list of object files, each file containing sections like:
.stab*
or
.debug*
If they are missing the files were likely stripped.
(just guessing mind)
