- Subject: GDB branch commit policy
Hello fellow GDB developers,
I just wanted to clarify something that I felt more than I noticed.
Although I am currently acting as the Release Manager for GDB,
I respect the opinion of our maintainers at least as much as mine
in terms of what is safe enough to be checked in the branch and
what isn't.
As your Release Manager, I'm always happy to take a look at any patch.
But I also consider that, if a maintainer (either Global Maintainer
or Responsible Maintainer) approves a patch for the branch, that's
good enough process for me. Maintainers should not feel obligated
to approve or reject a patch for the branch, but should know that
this is a decision that they can make on behalf of the entire group.
As the Global Maintainer, I will always keep an extra look at the
changes that go to the branch, and start a discussion if necessary.
And of course, other contributors are always welcome to comment
on any of these decisions too.
