[Bug libc/599] New: read and utf-8


I don't know if the following issue is due to libc or something else. Be gentle.


Compile the attached program. Run it in a locale using the UTF-8 encoding, and
as input type an ñ character (a  U+00F1 LATIN SMALL LETTER N WITH TILDE unicode
character) immediately followed by a backspace, and then an enter.

The output I get is "c3 a", while it should be simply "a".


This is on a box where uname -a gives "Linux grothendieck 2.6.8.1 #4 Tue Oct 26
23:17:36 ART 2004 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux", and my glibc is 2.3.3; I'll
provide any information that might be needed.
