Prompted by the previous sentence (I'm definitely in testing mood) I
tried

GSL_IEEE_MODE="single-precision" make check

GSL_IEEE_MODE="double-precision" make check

GSL_IEEE_MODE="extended-precision" make check

and all of them, almost immediately, failed! (Quite interestingly, they
failed also in the 1.5 stable version). What I did wrong?

P.S.: BTW on the opteron I got a

ERROR: <whatever> precision rounding is not supported by <fenv.h>

where <whatever> stands for single, double or extended, but I guess this
is as expected.
