I don't think Guile should, in general, echo input expressions before evaluating them. I think the best way to get the effect you want would be to write your own read-eval-print loop, like: (define (my-repl) (let ((expr (read))) (write expr) (newline) (write (eval expr)) (newline) (my-repl))) (not tested, just an idea)
