Documentation would have helped you here. As I said, it's at the top of my post-1.3 list. I think Guile will not work happily in multi-threaded programs at all, because creating a thread creates a new stack, Guile needs to know about any stack that might hold heap references. This is not good citizenship, I agree. In general, it's a big project to fix. NIIBE Yutaka has hacked up a good start to some related problems, but those changes are too big to do before 1.3.
