Scwm (The Scheme Configurable Window Manager) may be a better source of inspiration and code to borrow for GNUCash's guile-based hooks. It too uses Guile, and does hooks similar to emacs. Our event-binding system is undergoing a thorough redesigned, and will be reimplemented in the next two months-- my design is in the scwm-discuss mailing list archive on the web.
