Well, you see Gnome is using Guile for some stuff, which means that obviously KDE can't use Guile ... Serously, there are some major political differences between the KDE camp, and the Gnome camp. Aligned with the latter camp is Guile, FSF, Red Hat, Debian, and all other right-thinking people ... Even though there are well-meaning, sincere, and competent people on both sides, there are philosophical and personality issues (plus a year or more of bitter arguments) that complicate any co-operation between the two camps.
