Or even just keeping multiple snapshots around.  It'd be nice for Scwm
if we could just say: "for now, all the scwm devs are using 063098
snapshot of guile -- get it from ftp.red-bean.com".  Then we could at
least have a common base of guile instead of everyone using the latest
snapshot when they decided to build.
