In guile-1.3, the default module for the read eval print loop is now 'guile-user', not 'the-root-module', so you code might have been placed in one place, while gh_lookup is looking somewhere else. I had similar problems when I moved to 1.3. I don't use gh_lookup, and I haven't read the code for it, so I can't be sure. I don't know if this helps. -russ
