Ouch. You do realize that (almost) everyone here will just migrate to guile-devel, don't you? I personally find all the discussions here very enlightening, so if you feel discouraged to discuss devel matters here, than I urge you not to feel this way. A separate list to carry diffs to the top-level NEWS file, called guile-announce or guile-changes or something, would probably make sense, for those who find the noise here unbearable. Another solution is to do what the Gnome folks did - they have a closed (but archived) devel list called gnome-hackers. The "archived" part is critical here. Maybe even better thing to do is to allow read-only subscription to everyone and to allow posting for people with CVS write access. (I know zilch about mailing list software, so perhaps such a thing is unfeasible. I seem to remember some comments as to how Majordomo is a complete and utter bitch to modify. Whatever...). You see, most of the problem of the previous private discussions among Guile developers (in my view, at least), was not that random people couldn't have input, but because the discussions were *private*. > /mdj regards, mike.
