Re: what does 'thunk' mean?

			      Hello all,
Procedures without arguments can be used to implement promises,
call-by-name and more. See for example the beautiful

  AI memo 353, March 1976, 41 pages,
Lambda: The Ultimate Imperative, Guy Lewis Steele, Jr. and
  Gerald Jay Sussman
   ftp://publications.ai.mit.edu/ai-publications/0-499/AIM-353.ps

The Hacker's dictionary has something about the history of the term
``thunk'', I think (no pun intended).

Talking about fancy names, does anybody know why there seems to be a
tendency towards ``less friendly'' names for Scheme/Lisp systems
lately (or is it just me ;-)

Rabbit nil T Guile Liar Larceny Stalin

(I don't know enough Tolkien to place Hobbit in this subjective
ranking).

regards,
Roland
