Why is this list so lagged?

I have been noticing that, when people send a message both to me
an to the list, my copy always gets here first - something
between 1 hour to 1 day. Is there some misconfiguration on
cygnus.com? I never noticed slowness or conectivity problems
when browsing their web/ftp sites.
