Re: Tired of make. Anyone interested in a guile-based replacement?




I've wanted this for ages and I might even be able to contribute small
amounts of time in the fall.

I tried using automake and found it impossible.  It's nice when you
get a package and say configure ; make and it works, but writing the
thing yourself is a nightmare.  It's all macros defined heaven knows
where.

Some of that complexity is inherent in the problem, though, i.e.,
making it all portable.  I think it would be a non-trivial design to
get something really useful and maintainable.

Olin Shivers has had this listed as a scsh project for a while now.  I
don't know if there has been anyone working on it.
