Hello,
Recently there was discussion of a need for an introductory tutorial
for the project (i.e. on Scheme itself not Guile). Greg Badros
gave a pointer to his nice lecture notes at
http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/courses/341/CurrentQtr/lectures/scheme/
There are actually quite a few Scheme tutorials out there, but a really
nice one in particular is Dr. Paul Wilson's "An Introduction to Scheme
and its Implementation," which would make a nice companion to Greg's
notes
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/wilson/schintro/schintro_toc.html
Apart from being a very nice and complete tutorial, what makes this
one in particular interesting is the following paragraph in the
introduction,
"This book is written in Texinfo format, the format used for GNU
documentation, so that it can be printed out as a hardcopy document,
browsed online as an info document (with the Info browser, or the
Info system for the Emacs editor), or converted automatically to
HTML format for browsing with a web browser. Whichever way you're
reading this book, welcome to Scheme."
which seems to indicate that the document may be freely available,
and is already in texinfo format.
Perhaps this document could be mirrored on the GNU server off the
GUILE home page or a pointer to it could be given. If Dr Wilson
gives his permission of course <wilson@cs.utexas.edu>.
