I'm using this in Snd; I wanted to wrap up the hook procedure
list in 'or, and also get the result of the hook procedure,
so I had to write my own versions of scm_c_run_hook.
Similarly, I'm using scm_i_procedure_arity for some error
checks, but I fear it also is "deprecated", given the "_i_".
I hope some replacement for both will be available.
