It is... though I generally prefer to use &modules, rather than symlinks,
if it'll have the same effect on what directories are created on checkout;
symlinks cause the CVS/Repository file to be be different depending on how
something is checked out....

You might change the line in CVSROOT/modules for guile-core to something
like:
guile-core  guile/guile-core &guile-doc
