By the way: I compile using gcj (see http://gcc.gnu.org/java/) to
track down VerifyErrors. When I have a hard-to-track down
VerifyError, I've enhanced gcj to provide better diagnostics,
so it is now fairly helpful. (The CVS version is normally
best, but I couldn't get gcc to bootstrap yesterday.)
