I'm really interested in programming languages implementation, the
problem here at polimi is that we see a lot of theory, but we rarely
use it to develop real applications.
To be more clear about my previous knowledge, these are some topics I
studied in some of my courses:
What will happen is we will (hopefully) get few students interested in
working on Kawa, and we will get a small number of funded "slots" (maybe
only one). At that point we will decide on the best match of students
and projects, given our limited number of slots.
Being proactive, studying the code, asking intelligent questions are likely
to increase your changes of getting funded. Even if you're not, it's not
wasted effort, since studying and maybe contributing to a real non-trivial
code-base is a very useful experience - more valuable long-term than the
actual money.
