glibc 2.1.95 (5th test release)

I've uploaded to

   ftp://sourceware.cygnus.com/pub/glibc/releases

the files

   glibc-2.1.95.tar.bz2 (also .gz)
   glibc-2.1.94-2.1.95.diff.bz2 (also .gz)
   nss_db-2.1.92.tar.gz
   nss_lwres-0.91.tar.gz

The patch is gzip compressed 560k but the majority of the changes are
to data files.

We've fixed quite a few little problems here and there, overall
nothing severe. The internationalization stuff should now be fairly
good tested, the conversion tables correct. The situation of the
Linux ports from my perspective is

   x86 works
arm works (if you have recent compiler and kernel)
   m68k works
   ia64 works
   sparc32/64 works
mips works (except for backward compatibility with broken
                      binaries)
alpha should work with a decent kernel (math problems)
   ppc one backward compatibility problem
   sh don't know
   390 don't know

The Linux/PA people are almost ready to merge in so this code could go
in if they get their acts together.

I don't know the Hurd situation but wouldn't expect problems.

The nss_db-2.1.92.tar.gz contains the nss_db module code. Nothing
changed since the last release. Mark Kettenis also provided a
nss_lwres module. This module uses the light-weight resolver coming
with Bind9. If you are using Bind9 give it a try.

People who have installed previous test releases and linked
applications statically which are supposed to be internationalized
should relink them.

Give it a try and send feedback to libc-alpha@soureware.cygnus.com.
Also success reports.
