I am not using MIPS linux myself, but for your information,
Sony has just announced that
they will release Linux for PS/2 (with necessary hardware adaptors for
USB keyboard and an external disk included) and PS/2's main CPU is MIPS.
The first shipment will be 1000 units. I wonder if this is "huge"
user base or not. You may need to be prepared for the "bug report"
from the users of Sony's linux on PS/2 in the upcoming months.
(Sony's offering is based on 2.2.x kernel, and presumably use the 'buggy'
binutils. it seems it will be available only in Japan. Also, it
requires card slot and so you need to choose the particular models
carefully.)

Oh, PS/2 above is not the IBM's PS/2, but Sony's Play Station 2, the game
machine.

See the dmesg in the following URL.
Simply ignore the first few Japanese comment lines.

	http://www.jp.playstation.com/linux/dmesg.html

(The page cautions that
above is from the pre-release version and the released version
may be different. I surely hope so, since the version in the
above dmesg suggests it is based on the kernel 2.2.1.)

This might brings in the user base with necessary momentum to push
the development of MIPS linux forward.
