Re: prelinking speed

Jakub,
On further reflection, it seems to me that the cron script
approach may not be that appropriate for Debian sid at least.
What I am going to propose to Debian is that we modify our dpkg
and apt-get to support an autoprelink setting (through a
prefernce file). The idea would that if autoprelink in those
programs is enabled a list of installed libs and binaries
would be collected during the install. At the end of the install,
this list would be passed on to prelink an argument list.
I have found on debian ppc sid that I get about 20-40 packages
a day when I do 'apt-get dist-upgrade'. With that level of churn
it seems much more effecient to move the task of collecting
the files to be prelinked off onto apt-get.
                                  Jack
ps Is there a limit to the number of files one can pass to
prelink as arguments?
