Glibc, on a first view, looks quite structured, and I think it's not really hard maintaining a port. (That is, I can't really understand the motion towards add-ons. Additional ports mostly seem quite straight forward to me, being little invasive most of the time, so I don't really see why a new port shouldn't just be placed into the code base, except for keeping the tarball as small as possible.)
