I am using the Fedora 13 version: libtirpc libtirpc-0.2.1-3.fc13.  I guess
maybe the patch to remove abort was subsequent to the tarball in that release.

For now, I have created my own truncating version of the function to solve my
problem.

Also, I'm not sure whether this has any relevance, but in
libtirpc/src/netnamer.c:_getgroups, the function seems to truncate
at 16 groups rather than throwing an error.  So that seems
a bit inconsistent.
