   A gree with this.  Since there is no chance at all that gcc 2.8 will
   be fixed (since according to Kenner there is nothing wrong) there are
   not many choices.

It may very well be that Kenner is right.  Please have a look to the
analysis I just posted and my reply to Zack's message.
