I know nothing about any alpha problem.  This bug was reported by Jim Studt,
after he chased down a problem on an ARM system AFAIK.  It was discussed on the
Debian ARM list which I happen to monitor.  Since I happen to spend a great deal
of time maintaining GLIBC on the ARM platform I investigated.  I managed to
duplicate the problem and reported it.  I'm sorry your upset, but I didn't even
know you were involved.
