glibc hackers & users; The glibc and gcc steering committees, in a long-overdue move, are going to be working together to resolve the issues raised by the introduction of gcc3. We are already talking to several glibc developers to get their views and ideas. While we think that technical efforts to resolve compatibility problems should continue (of course) , I personally hope that patches which directly set long-term direction can be put off a little longer until a consensus is reached on proper direction and long-term correctness. -- Mark S.
