Thanks, Daniel. I've published your tarball (and made a .gz version).
Had I been quicker about it, I'd meant to post here about a 2.6 branch.
I think there will be a 2.6.1 pretty soon, because the malloc fixes are
pretty urgent. I won't actually announce 2.6 on info-gnu, just 2.6.1.
If you hadn't done it already, I was going to suggest that ports might
prefer not to branch and make tarballs until then, and get more ports
fixes in beforehand. Anything going in soon is probably wanted on the
2.6 branch too, so the double commits will have to start now.
I will check in with folks before doing anything final about 2.6.1.
