standalone libffi

I was browsing around a bit today and came across this:

It seems a shame that we aren't a bit more active about supporting
libffi outside of gcc.
So, today I grabbed a snapshot of libffi from gcc, updated the
configury a tiny bit, and checked it in to the libffi CVS repository.
I didn't try to merge anything, I just overwrote everything that was
there before.
This builds for me on x86 FC5. Please try your platform. If it works
adequately well I think we should push out a standalone tarball release.
Other things worth considering:
* What to do about the whole assignment situation
* Writing some nicer documentation
