Looks good so far.  Will there actually be a 'c_compatability' directory,
or should that be replaced by something else in your patch?

We'll probably finish it off between us, since there are apparently some
missing pieces...?

I'll take what you've posted, do the LN_S bits, change the c_compat thing
if you say that it's wrong, and repost the patch.
