<sigh> I thought I had seen the last "Error reading tcl" report for a while ...

Anyway, the current status of Xconq for Cygwin is that it is supposed to
work, but it is no longer actively supported. By this I mean that I haven't
compiled myself since early this spring, but it did work last time I did so.

There are a number of caveats, however. First, you do need the "tcl" and
"tk" directories. They contain a specially hacked version of tcltk that
works with Cygwin-b20 which I am using myself. I don't know if xconq builds
with the more recent network-only versions of Cygwin, nor do I know what
tcltk to use in that case. But since you were able to build the app perhaps
this does not matter. What version of Cygwin did you use?

As for your specific problem, I do have some theories, but being an
experimentalist I would first like to know if you can get the Windows
binaries that I compiled myself (and which I know are OK) to run on your
system. That would rule out a number of possible problems. They are
available at:

http://w1.694.telia.com/~u69400018/

Please note that because of the recent path changes the Windows app should
now be run from the xconq top directory, not from the win directory. You
should therefore put tk83.dll and tcl83.dll in the top directory. You also
need to put the tk8.3 and tcl8.3 directories where the app can find them,
e.g. in xconq/lib.

Hans
