No, it would return 'aaaa'. Leading and trailing whitespace is stripped
entirely. Other sequences of whitespace are reduced to 1 space. Examples:
' aa bb ' becomes 'aa bb'.
' aa
bb
cc' becomes 'aa bb cc'.
