yes, I do rather wish xsl had followed dsssl and mandated tail recursion
elimination in implementations.
It isn't always trivial to write things in tail recursive form, but at
least in a language that specifies tail recursion is implemented as
iteration, you know it is a worthwhile effort, but in XSL you just
have to hope.
