Kim,
It looks like your time id's contain all the information you need, in the
proper format for sorting. If you just for-each through your <time>
elements and sort on the id's, you'll have what you want. No need for any
special date/time functions.

..My problem is to sort out the times in the increasing order. The
..id in the xml file is arranged in the fashion
..yyyymmddHH(hrs)MM(mnts).I can get the HH from
..substring(./time/@id,9,2). and this is what i want to sort in
..ascending order.
..so that i may show the timetext in chronological order. How do i
..do this. Can someone help??
