Problems using DocumentBuilder Object

I'm trying to parse an xml document with the following as a header:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
How do I tell the documentBuilder to ignore the header. The Parser is
saying that the document is invalid.
