there are two kinds of XML parsers validating and non validating.
a validating parser checks that a document conform to the grammar
specified in a "DTD". which will be specified with a <!DOCTYPE at teh
top of your file.
Your DTD presumably does _not_ say that PART elements have a GID
attribute.
One system you are using is validating the other is not.
so options are to turn off validation (if that is possible)
or remove the attribute or change the dtd to allow the attribute.
