Uh, oh, hmm.  I was always under the impression we try to be as xterm
compatible as possible, rather than the Linux console.

As long as you don't implement Alt-Cursor Left/Right keys to switch
between virtual consoles, which is the most nerve-racking keymapping
of the Linux console, it's ok with me.  Fortunately Windows consoles
don't know about virtual consoles.  Yet.
