The console device are local to each process, so for foreign console
devices there is an extra code path (taht wasn#t exercised in the
current version of the package for reasons still unclear) that doesn't
call stat on them.  That path has a bug in it that prevents the dev/
part from geting stripped for the final output.  I'll fix it up before
releasing.
